Ramirez Sports Cardiology and Arrhythmia is dedicated to caring for the athlete’s heart and treating heart rhythm disorders. Our mission is to provide expert heart risk evaluations for athletes (from young to masters class) engaged in competitive and recreational sporting activities.
We also consistently deliver research-based and patient-centered expert treatment of arrhythmias.
Arrhythmias, or abnormal heart rhythms, can affect people of all ages. When arrhythmias occur, they can disrupt your quality of life and diminish your sense of wellbeing. In their most dangerous forms, arrhythmias can be life threatening or lead to severe consequences, including stroke or sudden death. Sudden death from an underlying heart condition is the leading cause of death in young athletes.
Arrhythmias may result in sudden cardiac death among young athletes participating in competitive sports. Sports cardiology concentrates on evaluating the athlete’s heart to identify potentially serious and even life-threatening conditions that may be aggravated by exercise and competition. Electrophysiology is the specialty of cardiology, focused on the evaluation and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
